OKLAHOMA COUNTY — Deer Creek blew open a tight opener with Bethany with eight runs in the final two innings of a 9-1 contest Monday (Aug. 10).
The 6A Antlers took a first inning lead on home run from sophomore Chloe Laskie. Outside of that hit and three walks in the fourth inning, Broncho senior starter Jules Barger kept the game close.
Senior Emma Geissler relieved Barger with the bases loaded in the fourth and the Broncho defense added some help. Sophomore second basemen Avery Bibbs snagged a liner and doubled off a Deer Creek runner at first. A line out to left fielder Ella Davis ended the threat.
Bethany got two of their four hits in the top of the fifth but couldn’t score.
In the bottom half of the inning, things unraveled. The Antlers had a double, three singles and took advantage of three Broncho errors to plate four runs.
The Bronchos got on the board in the sixth inning when a leadoff double from freshman Izzy Melton led to a run.
Deer Creek followed with four more runs in the sixth inning to put the game away.

Bethany travels to Kingfisher for its District 4A-3 opener Tuesday (Aug. 10).
The Yellowjackets dropped a 6-0 contest to 6A Enid Monday.
Kingfisher went 25-10 last season, falling in the regional tournament.
