OKLAHOMA CITY — Western Heights’ season ended Friday (Nov. 6) in a 42-6 loss to Chickasha in a 4A-2 contest.
The Chick got 212 yards passing from quarterback Javier Nieto. The senior completed 7 of 8 passes for four scores. Junior Quentin Benitez had 65 yards on four carries with one touchdown.
The Jets moved the ball at times. Western Heights’ opening possession reached midfield, helped out by a 22-yard completion to senior Tristan Young. A pick-six to Chickasha senior Kylan Miller ended the threat and made it 14-0.
The Jets’ best scoring shot in the first half came on a six-minute drive in the second quarter. Western Heights made it to the Chickasha eight-yard line. The Jets benefitted from pass interference penalties and converted on fourth down once. The Chicks held the Jets off with an incomplete pass at the 4:40 mark.
Western Heights broke up the shutout late in the game with a running clock ticking down. Young made it to the Chickasha 3 with a 26-yard catch. He later scored on a run. A two-point conversion run failed..
With the running clock still moving, the Jets executed a long line drive onside kick and got possession of the ball in Chickasha territory but time expired to end the game.
