PIEDMONT — Piedmont got their 15 district points and then some Friday (Nov. 6) in the regular season finale against Putnam City North.
The Wildcats scored 10 rushing touchdowns for a 70-13 win over the Panthers. With the win, Piedmont clinched second place in 6A-II-1, along with a first-round bye in the playoffs thanks to their marginal point total versus totals from Norman and Putnam City. The loss landed North in fifth place.
Piedmont sophomore Brody Williams and junior Grant Karber each had three touchdowns.
Trailing 28-0 in the second quarter, the Panthers (2-8, 2-4) showed some life. Junior Nile Green snagged an interception. He returned it 31 yards into Wildcat territory. A personal foul illegal blindside block moved the football to the Piedmont 7-yard line.
North’s offense stalled and turned the ball over on downs.
Piedmont (6-4, 4-2) moved the ball to near midfield when junior Mosley Robinson hit Wildcat quarterback Maddux Caram and caused an errant pitch. Senior Stephen Brown recovered the fumble at the Wildcat 37.
Junior Kaiden Roberson hauled in a 21-yard pass from McMahan to get to the Wildcat 1. Three plays later, senior Jaelen Taylor caught a touchdown pass to break up the shutout.
North got one more score in the fourth quarter. The Panthers were in hurry-up mode with the game now having a running clock. North scored as time expired for the 70-13 score.

Putnam City North (2-8, 2-4) will play at Muskogee next Friday (Nov. 13) at 7:30 p.m. in the first round of the 6A-II playoffs.
The Roughers (5-5, 2-3) finished fourth in 6A-II-2. Muskogee finished the regular season with three straight losses, including a 35-21 defeat to Sand Springs Friday.
