OKLAHOMA CITY — Blanchard scored five touchdowns in the first quarter of a 49-0 rout of Western Heights Friday (Sept. 25) in the 4A-2 opener for both teams.
Jet quarterback Jamel Smith gave up two pick-sixes in the first quarter as the Lions built a commanding lead.
Western Heights (2-2, 0-1) moved the ball into Blanchard territory late in the third quarter. Near the end of the quarter, a fumble recovery gave the Jets good field position at the Blanchard 28-yard line. They moved into the red zone but a penalty wiped out the play.
Western Heights’ best opportunity came in the fourth quarter. Smith fumbled in the backfield during a scramble but recovered and sprinted to the Blanchard 36. He later got to the 30 before the Lions stopped the drive to preserve the shutout.

The Jets travel to Harrah next Friday (Oct. 2) at 7 p.m. as 4A-2 play continues.
