BETHANY — Bethany honored its four seniors Monday (Sept. 28) with a 13-1 run-rule win over the OKC Broncos.
Broncho coach Booker Blakley praised his group of seniors.
“We’ve been really fortunate with our four seniors and the leadership that they have provided this season. They have been expected to lead both off the field and on the field. By all accounts, they have exceeded those expectations. They have led Bethany softball to a lot of success, and I have no doubt that they will be successful after they leave for the real world,” Blakley said via text.
The group includes senior outfielder and pitcher Emma Geissler, third baseman Grey Williamson, shortstop and pitcher Jules Barger and outfielder Ella Davis.
In their final contest at home, Bethany jumped on the OKC Broncos with eight runs in the first inning. The Bronchos had seven singles, a double and took advantage of a Bronco error. For the contest, Bethany had 16 hits.
UP NEXT
The Bronchos (16-13) will travel to Tuttle Tuesday (Sept. 29) for Class 4A Regional 1 with the Tigers (20-12) and Pauls Valley (25-12).
Tuttle won 4A-1 and the Panthers finished fourth in 4A-2.
“All I ask of my kids are to play hard and hopefully play well at the right time,” Blakley said. “We have the ability to have some success. But, we will have to play at our best level for it to happen. Tuttle and Pauls Valley are both solid teams So, we will have our work cut out for us.”
Bethany meets host Tuttle at 10 a.m. and Pauls Valley at noon. Those two will meet at 2 p.m.
If necessary games are at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. on Wednesday. Only the winner advances to the area (also known as super regional) tournament round on Oct. 5.
