BETHANY — Bethany scored seven runs in the fifth inning to tie 4A-3 leader Kingfisher Tuesday (Sept. 22) but the Yellowjackets later rallied for a 12-8 win.
Kingfisher built an 8-1 lead with three home runs. Yellowjacket senior Lilliana Garramone led off the third inning with a homer over the center field fence. Juniors Lily Voth and Addison Johnson added back-to-back homers in the fifth.
The Bronchos got to work in the bottom half of the fifth. with four singles and three walks. Five of the Bronchos’ eight hits came in that inning. Sophomore Macy Bibbs had a 2-run double in the fifth. Freshman Izzy Melton, sophomore Dani Williams and senior Jules Barger each had runs batted in during the rally as Bethany tied the game up at 8-8.
The score stayed that way until the seventh. Voth led off with a double. Two walks, a fielder’s choice and an error later, the Yellowjackets had a 12-8 lead. The Bronchos went in order in the bottom half of the inning to end the game.
Bethany got on the scoreboard for the first time in the third inning, already trailing 4-0. Sophomore Avery Bibbs walked. Later, senior Emma Geissler singled to right field which moved Avery Bibbs to third. Senior Grey Williamson hit a ball to center field which resulted in an error which scored Avery Bibbs.
Geissler went 2-for-4 in the loss.
Kingfisher racked up 11 hits and took advantage of seven walks from Broncho pitching.

The Bronchos (14-13) travel to 3A Crossings Christian (10-15) Thursday (Sept. 24) at 5 p.m.
The Knights have won three straight games, including a doubleheader sweep of Community Christian on Tuesday (9-1 and 15-1).
