ELK CITY — Bethany scored three runs in the seventh inning but Elk City got past the Bronchos in a 12-9 win in 4A-3 action Monday (Sept. 7).
The Elkettes built a 12-3 lead after four innings, scoring five runs each in both the first and fourth innings.
In the fifth inning, senior Jules Barger cut the deficit with a 3-run home run to center. This came after a solo shot to lead off the second.
Barger went 3-for-4 with a double, two homers and five runs batted in.
She was part of the seventh inning rally. Senior Emma Geissler led off the inning with a single to left. Senior Grey Williamson also singled. Barger doubled to left to score Geissler and Williamson scored on a groundout by senior Ella Davis. Sophomore Dani Williams singled home Barger to make it 12-9.
Elk City starter Kynlee Suter got two ground balls to end the game.
The Bronchos banged out 10 hits in the loss.
