MUSTANG — Bethany’s cross country teams got a late night run Saturday (Sept. 6) at the Mustang Harrier “Under the Lights” race at Wild Horse Park.

The girls team finished seventh and the boys landed in 11th place.

Sophomore Morgan McNutt finished fifth in the girls race with a time of 19:53.59

“Morgan ran hard and she looked strong!” Bethany coach Zac Coulson said via text. “We don’t train for 5ks but I still loved the effort I saw from all the girls! They had some awesome and funny tanks they were that made it fun. I was proud of how the girls raced!”

The boys squad was paced by junior Salyer Stayton ,who finished 32nd with a 17:42.31.

“The boys looked great, I can tell how improved they get every race and that’s all I can ask for as a coach,” Coulson said. “Salyer and Aidan raced great.”

Coulson said senior Artur Calderon was back from being at boot camp for the National Guard. Calderon ran the junior varsity race.

Calderon finished third with a time of 18:10.41.

“(Calderon) is going to make us a deeper team and I’m excited to have him running.”

Coulson also praised freshman Jett Dickerson.

“And Clay (Powell) and Davis (Toler) improving every week taking time off each race,” Coulson said.
