BETHANY — Weatherford scored six runs in the seventh inning to erase a Bethany lead and won it with three runs in the ninth for a 16-13 victory in 4A-3 play Tuesday (Sept. 1).
The Bronchos built a 5-run lead in the first inning but the Eagles tied the game in the third inning and took a 7-5 lead in the fourth.
Bethany retook the lead in the bottom half of the inning. Senior Emma Geissler belted a 2-run home run to tie the game. A triple from senior Jules Barger scored Grey Williamson and a double from Ella Davis brought home Barger for a 9-7 lead.
A Williamson doubled in the fifth keyed a 2-run rally and a 11-7 lead.
The Bronchos had a 12-7 lead in the seventh inning when the Eagles stormed back with two walks and a single. Bethany got a double play when Weatherford sophomore Kayla Rizzuto lined out to Williamson at third. Williamson doubled off junior Karsyn Hix at the bag.
With two outs, the Eagles got two doubles and a 2-run homer from senior Joss Schulz to take a 13-12 lead.
The Bronchos tied it at 13-13 in the bottom half of the inning. Geissler led off with a walk, went to second on a passed ball and scored on a Barger single.
Weatherford finally broke through in the ninth inning on another Schulz home run, two walks and two singles. Bethany went quietly in the bottom half of the ninth to end the game.
Geissler struck out six in the loss. She also went 5-for-5 at the plate with two doubles and a homer.

The Bronchos travel to Bishop McGuinness Thursday (Sept. 3) at 5 p.m.
The Irish earned a 10-5 win over Elk City Monday (Aug. 31). The contest will be a rematch of the Bronchos’ 14-10 over McGuinness on Aug. 27.
