OKLAHOMA CITY — Putnam City West opened the new volleyball season Thursday (Aug. 13) by beating an opponent they had not beaten in several years.

The Patriots earned a 3-0 win over Ponca City with scores of 25-17, 25-23, 25-21.

The win marked the first time West had beaten Ponca City since the Wildcats joined the Oklahoma Big 7 conference seven years ago.

“Big time win for the girls,” Putnam City West coach Tyler Thompson said via email. “They played fearless and with aggression all night.”
