WARR ACRES — Putnam City West fell, 3-1, to the OKC Mets on the first day of the Dawgz of the South tournament Thursday (April 3) hosted by Santa Fe South at Putnam City.

The Patriots’ lone run came in the first inning. Freshman Cadence Smith reached on an error. A single by sophomore Alex Jimenez and walk by fellow sophomore Aaron De Loera loaded the bases.

Sophomore Jarin Hoff grounded out to second base, scoring Smith.

The Mets scored two runs in the second inning and one run in the third, taking advantage of a Patriot error and a balk.

Jimenez, De Loera, junior Ezequiel Hernandez and senior Nathan Vann each had a hit in the loss.

De Loera took the loss on the mound. He allowed three hits. Of the three runs he allowed, only one was earned. He struck out seven batters.

Mets starter Ethan Dobbs struck out nine Patriots and walked two.

UP NEXT

West (3-9) faces Destiny Christian (8-6) Friday (April 4) at 5:15 p.m. at Putnam City.

The Wildcats fell to Lexington, 9-0, Thursday.
