OKLAHOMA CITY — Western Heights dropped two 5A-1 games to Altus Monday (Sept. 8), 11-5 and 15-1.

ALTUS 11, WESTERN HEIGHTS 5

A late push by the Bulldogs beat the Jets.

Trailing 8-2 in the bottom of the fifth inning, Western Heights plated three runs.

Jalesa Asimba led off with a single. Abbie Bise and Aracena Martin eached reached on an error and Asimba scored on the second error. Raelynn Frost grounded out which scored Bise. Ann-Marie Bohnstedt reached on an another error, which scored Martin.

Khamiyah Laster singled which put runners at first and second with one out and the tying run at the plate. Altus got two groundouts and scored insurance runs in the next two innings for the win.

Asimba was 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Laster finished 2-for-3 with a triple. Frost and Bise each had hits. Bise also stole two bases. Martin and Frost each had a stolen base.

ALTUS 15, WESTERN HEIGHTS 1

The Bulldogs jumped on the Jets early with seven runs in both the first and second innings for a rout.

Western Heights’ lone run came in the first inning. Asimba led off with a single. She came around to score after Martin reached on an infield error.

Asimba’s single was the only hit the Jets could muster in the three-inning run-rule.
