
NORMAN — Norman North turned a tie game into a 12-4 rout of Putnam City West Friday (March 28).
The Patriots (3-6) took advantage of a walk and an error to take an early lead in the first inning. Freshman Cadence Smith also stole a base and moved to third base on a wild pitch.
The Timberwolves (8-6) answered in the bottom half of the inning with four runs. Norman North had two doubles and benefited from two West errors.
The Patriots tied the game up in the second inning, A single from freshman Malachi Ferguson and a double by Smith back-to-back made it 4-4.
Norman North took the lead for good in the third inning with four singles and two walks leading to three runs and an 7-4 lead.
West was held to three hits in the loss. Smith, Ferguson and senior Marshall Byars each had a hit.
Sophomore Jarin Hoff took the loss after allowing seven runs (four of which were earned) in three innings.
UP NEXT
West (3-6, 2-2) hosts Mustang (7-7, 1-3) Monday (March 31) at 5 p.m. in a 6A-1 contest.
The Broncos fell to Norman, 2-1, Thursday.
