

TUTTLE — Newcastle run-ruled Bethany, 12-2, Thursday (March 20) on the first day of the Tuttle Spring Break Festival.
The Bronchos’ lone bright spot was a homer to center field by senior Charlie Tolle to lead off the game. Bethany (6-2) added another run on an RBI-single from fellow senior Levi Moore. Moore’s infield single scored another senior, Layton Reither, who walked.
On the mound, Tolle struggled in 1 1/3 innings. The starter allowed three hits, four runs and two walks. Tolle struck out three batters. In all, Bethany pitching gave up 12 hits in four innings.
Newcastle (8-0) broke the game open with five runs in the second inning, highlighted by Racer senior Jackson Schanuel’s grand slam. The blast was one of two homers by Schanuel in the game.
Meanwhile, Bethany was unable to get a hit after the first inning. Broncho hitters struck out eight times and walked three times in the loss.

Bethany faces Oologah (5-5) Friday (March 21) at 10 a.m.
The Mustangs were shut out by host Tuttle, 13-0, Thursday.
