OKLAHOMA CITY – Midwest City scored eight runs in the sixth inning to beat Putnam City West, 14-8, Saturday (March 1).

The Patriots (0-1) tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the third with a double by Alex Jimenez and a steal of home by Cadence Smith.

The Bombers (1-0) answered in the top of fifth inning with five hits (including a triple) to take a 6-2 lead.

West answered in the fifth inning with doubles from Jimenez and Austin De Loera and a triple from Ezequiel Hernandez. After the big inning, the Patriots led, 8-6.

Midwest City had five hits and took advantage of two walks and six errors in the sixth inning to pull away for the win.

Jimenez, Nathan Vann and De Loera each had two hits. Jimenez had two doubles and Hernandez had a triple.

Vann stole two bases and West stole seven bases as a team.

Jarin Hoff struck out six batters and allowed nine hits and five earned runs in a no-decision. De Loera took the loss, giving up four hits, five earned runs and striking out four batters.

UP NEXT

West travels to Putnam City Tuesday (March 4) at 5 p.m.

The Pirates (0-1) fell to Bethany, 12-4, Saturday. The Pirates will play Capitol Hill Monday.
