
BROKEN ARROW — Putnam City West had four players score in double figures Friday (Feb. 28) in a 72-55 win over Northwest Classen in the Class 6A East Regional at Broken Arrow.
The win ensured a berth in next week’s Area playoffs and advanced the Patriots to the Regional final Saturday.
“Big time playoff win for us!” Putnam City West coach Brian Booker said via text. “We came out and jumped on them in the beginning and didn’t let up.”
Juniors Quavion Wheeler and Jordan Kariuki each scored 17 points to lead West. Another junior, Damari Coleman, added 16 points.
Junior DJ Carter followed with 14 points.
“We held their best player in check for the most part,” Booker said.
West sprinted out to a six-point lead after a quarter (20-14) and led by 10 points by halftime (38-28).
UP NEXT
The Patriots face host Broken Arrow (23-2) Saturday (March 1) at 7 p.m.
The Tigers routed Stillwater, 73-35, Friday.
