
FRONTENAC, Kan. — Putnam City senior Kelton Locke dropped 23 points as the Pirates beat Fair Hope (Mo.) in the semifinals of the Frontenac Raider Classic in southeast Kansas Friday (Jan. 24).
“Kelton Locke demonstrated poise, leadership and determination all game to help us pull away in the second half,” Putnam City coach Brandon Jackson said via text.
“We played a really good fair grove team,” Jackson said. “They played smart and also physical. Really happy to get this win versus a good team like them.”
Sophomore Miles Jackson added 11 points in the win. Sophomore Mar’Quell Robinson and Gabe Osborne each scored nine points.
Jackson praised Johnn Sheffey for a big second quarter performance.
“He hit a big three that we needed and had four big rebounds,” Jackson said.
The junior finished with five points. Senior JaColby Williams followed with three points.

Putnam City (10-4) meets Webb City, a Class 5 school near Joplin, Missouri, Saturday (Jan. 25) in the tournament championship game. The Cardinals are 9-5.
