PIEDMONT— Putnam City North fell to Piedmont, 49-42, Tuesday (Jan. 21) in a 6A-2 matchup.
“The tougher team won tonight,” Putnam City North coach DJ Lemons said via text. “All the credit to Piedmont they came out ready to play from start of the game till the end.
“Our guys took them lightly because we beat them the first time. I told my team, Piedmont has gotten better and we also need to come out with a fast start… We deserved that wake up call.”
Senior Anthony Leonard paced the Panthers with 13 points. Fellow senior TJ McNeely added 10 points.
Piedmont junior Hudson Hite scored a game-high 22 points. Hite sank two 3-pointers. He also hit 5-of-6 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter to help seal the win.
