BLANCHARD — Bethany got big games from Jackie Payne and Wyatt Geissler Tuesday (Jan. 7) for a 51-39 win over Blanchard in a Western Athletic Conference contest.
Payne had a few blocks and steals to go along with 18 points, including two 3-pointers.
“Jackie was all over the place tonight,” Bethany coach Brett Cannon said via text of the senior. Payne also took two big charges.
Geissler hit five treys to finish with 15 points.
“It’s always nice to get him going and see him shooting with elite confidence,” Cannon said of Geissler.
Senior Aiden Todd scored six points and had seven assists.
Cannon called it “one of his best playmaking games.”
The Bethany coach said the victory was a “gritty win on the road, in a tough environment, against a very well coached and talented Blanchard squad.
“They slowed down the game but I was happy with our effort on both sides,” Cannon said.
Cannon praised Blanchard coach Jeff Word.
“(He) is one of the best in the state at teaching his kids toughness and how to play hard so we knew it was going to be a challenge,” Cannon said.
