We Cover the Pirates. West Metro Sports

MUSTANG – Sophomore Gabe Osborne’s floater with :16 left proved to be the difference as Putnam City downed Mustang on the road, 51-48, Friday (Dec. 20) in a 6A-1 matchup.

Following Osborne’s shot, Mustang’s Jaden Johnson missed a layup and sophomore Mar’Quell Robinson rebounded the ball and was fouled at midcourt by Riley Sneller with .8 seconds remaining.

It was deemed an intentional foul. Robinson hit both free free throws to make it 51-48 and the Pirates successfully inbounded the ball to seal the win.

“We found a way to win the game,” Putnam City coach Brandon Jackson said via text. “We didn’t rebound the ball well at all and that’s what kept us from making a run throughout the game.”

Mustang outrebounded PC, 31-29, for the contest.

“But proud of how our team compete for 32 minutes even when things weren’t going our way,” Jackson said.

Senior JaColby Williams scored a game-high 19 points with six 3-pointers. Osborne finished with 17 points and seven rebounds.

Robinson, who hit key free throws earlier in the fourth quarter, added eight points, eight rebounds and three steals.
