BETHANY – Four Bethany pitchers scattered two hits in the Bronchos’ 3-0 senior day victory of the OKC Broncos Monday (April 22).

The win snapped a three-game losing streak for the Bronchos, now 19-13.

“It was crucial for us to finish the regular season on a positive note,” Bethany coach Brandon Ruiz said via text. “Our pitching staff did a great job tonight attacking the zone.”

Junior Charlie Tolle threw three hitless innings to start the game, striking out six batters. Fellow junior Andrew Taber added two scoreless innings, allowing a hit and striking out two. Another junior, Rylan Eccles followed with a hitless inning, striking out two and earning the win. Finally, junior Brock Cross struck out one batter in an inning of work, allowing a hit and securing the save.

The Broncho offense was also held in check until the sixth inning when four straight walks (including an intentional walk of Tolle) loaded the bases and scored a run. Senior Gavin Finley followed with a pinch-hit two run single to right field to give Bethany a 3-0 lead.

SENIOR SALUTE: Ruiz highlighted four senior players and one senior manager after the win.

“We have four amazing seniors that have done an amazing job for the Bethany baseball program,” Ruiz said. “Cade Ross has held down the middle infield for four years. Christian Sigler has been a mainstay at first for the last two years. Gavin Finley has grown into an extremely talented left-handed pitcher. And lastly, our incredible manager, Mieka Pietzsch, has done a fantastic job managing our team. Super proud of all of them.”

UP NEXT: The Bronchos will host the Class 4A Region 2 bracket in the playoffs. Bethany meets Harding Charter Prep (7-14)Thursday (April 25) at 11 a.m. Clinton (10-20) and Sulphur (17-14) complete the bracket.
