BLANCHARD – The Blanchard Lions all but wrapped up the Class 4A District 1 title Tuesday (April 16) shutting out Bethany, 10-0 in five innings.

Blanchard (19-7, 11-1) has two district games left next week with last-place Douglass who is 0-12 in district play.

Bethany (18-12, 11-3) has played all of its district games.

The Bronchos trailed 3-0 in the third when the Lions blew the game open when junior Kobe Madron hit a grand slam over the left field wall to increase the lead to 7-0.

Bethany’s offense was quiet for the second straight day as Blanchard junior Jaxon Heard allowed only two hits and two walks, striking out eight batters.

For the Bronchos, senior Gavin Finley and junior Andrew Taber each got a hit in the loss.

UP NEXT: The Bronchos face another tough test in Class 4A at Elk City (20-3) Thursday at 5 p.m. The Elks have clinched District going 11-0 with one game to go.
