OKLAHOMA CITY – Putnam City West girls basketball coach Ja’Ron Jefferson is leaving the job to take the boys basketball job at Yukon, Blake Colston at the Yukon Progress reported Monday (April 1).
When reached by text, Jefferson declined to comment.

Jefferson joined the Putnam City West staff as an assistant in 2018, before being elevated to the head coach position in 2021. The Lady Patriots went 69-13 with Jefferson at the helm, culminating with a Class 6A state championship this season.
West ended Class 6A power Edmond North’s wining streak during the season and beat them again in the state title game. Jefferson was named Class 6A District 2 coach of the year.
His daughter, Da’Nae Jefferson, was named first team All-District and was named the Defensive Player-of-the-Year. The sophomore was a big part of the Patriots’ playoff run and West’s title game comeback.
Yukon’s boys squad was 9-16 this season and head coach Kevin Ritter stepped down Feb. 26.
Updates to follow.
