BETHANY – 364 days after the last Bethany loss to Tuttle, the Lady Bronchos again avenged that loss by routing the Lady Tigers, 70-41, Tuesday night (Jan. 9).

Tuttle beat Bethany on Jan. 10, 2023, the Lady Bronchos’ only loss in a 29-1 state championship campaign. Bethany avenged the loss to Tuttle later with a state semifinal win.

Bethany coach Eric Sailer said his squad was excited to play Tuttle because they remembered that loss and how it kept the Lady Bronchos from winning the conference tittle.

“You could tell how we started the game that our girls were pumped,” Sailer said via text. “The way we shared the ball, the way we were knocking down huge shots, and the way we turned them over on defense.”

There was no doubt about the outcome Tuesday as the Lady Bronchos (8-2) sprinted to a 12-0 lead in the first quarter. Bethany led by 21 by halftime, 34-13, and the rout was on.

Bethany had four players in double-figures. Senior forward Zya Vann scored 16 points. Junior forward Kayten Donley added 15 while junior center Talia Vann scored 14. Fellow junior Keziah Lofton added 13 points

“We are hard to guard when we share the ball!” Sailer said.

UP NEXT: The Lady Bronchos continue Western Conference play at home against Clinton Thursday (Jan. 11). Tip-off is at 5 p.m.

Bethany has a stretch of eight games in 12 days. The Lady Bronchos head to Washington, D.C. They’ll play St. Johns College Prep, a team who received consideration and has been ranked in the ESPN national poll on Saturday (Jan. 13). They’ll then meet Morris Catholic, eighth-ranked in the same poll Monday (Jan. 16).

Bethany will play at Newcastle back in Oklahoma the next day. The Heart of American Tournament in Purcell is just a few days after that.

“We are gearing up for a storm!!! We must be stronger than the storm!!!” Sailer said. “That is what we are living by the next couple of weeks.”
