West downs Putnam City

WARR ACRES – Putnam City West used a strong start to beat Putnam City, 58-41, in girls action at the Putnam City Invitational Friday (Jan. 5).

The Lady Patriots (9-0) got double-figure games from junior Jazzlin Brown (12 points) and senior Caya Smith (11 points).

The Lady Pirates (4-6) rebounded with a strong effort after being routed by Douglass, 77-26, on the tournament’s first day. Junior Kayla Hill scored 12 points. Sophomore Promise Wright Wright added nine points as did Ace Engmann.

The Lady Panthers held off Sand Springs to get their first win in the tournament.

North (10-3) built a 23-19 lead after one quarter as sophomore guard Nini Geretta hit three 3-pointers and junior guard Nykaiya Dillard also added a trey.

Dillard finished with a game-high 22 points and Geretta added 17 points.

The Lady Panthers would use 3-pointers in the fourth to gain the win as senior guard Nevaeh Sanchez and freshman Richiya Miller each knocked down treys.
