Bethany Bronchos

BETHANY — Like on the first day of the Bethany tournament, the Bronchos won 1 of 2 contests Saturday (Sept. 12) on the second and final day of the tournament.

BETHANY 7, WEATHERFORD 3

Senior Jules Barger continued her hot hitting with a 3-for-4 day. Barger hit a 2-run home run in the fourth inning to help the Bronchos pull away from their familiar 4A-3 foes.

Senior Grey Williamson and sophomore Dani Williams each had two hits. Williams had a double.

The Bronchos built a 3-0 lead in the first inning on three singles and an Eagle error. Bethany added a run in the third inning and Weatherford stormed back in the bottom of the inning with three runs on a pair of hits, a walk and a Broncho error.

With two outs in the sixth, Barger lined a ball over the fence in center field which also scored Autumn Graham.

Bethany added one more insurance run in the sixth inning. Sophomore Avery Bibbs led off with a double to right. She later came around to score on a single from Williamson.

Avery Bibbs scattered three hits over six innings. She walked two batters and struck out five.

PAULS VALLEY 5, BETHANY 2

A 4-run third inning for the Panthers was too much for the Bronchos to overcome.

Pauls Valley had three hits and Bethany committed two errors in the Panther rally.

Trailing 5-0, the Bronchos got a run in the fourth inning. Barger walked, moved to third base on a double from senior Ella Davis and scored on a Williams single.

In the fifth inning, Barger’s double to right scored senior Emma Geissler (who had singled).

Of the five runs the starter Barger allowed, only one was earned due to the Broncho errors.
