CASHION — Bethany senior third baseman Grey Williamson was 4-for-6 in two Broncho wins on the first day of the Jacie Cochran Memorial Tournament Thursday (Aug. 20).
Williamson had three doubles, a triple and five runs batted in for the day.
BETHANY 7, HERITAGE HALL 1
In the bottom of the first, Williamson tied the game at 1-1 with a double that scored senior Emma Geissler. Senior Jules Barger added an RBI-single to take the lead.
In the second inning, sophomore Avery Bibbs walked and later scored on a passed ball. Fellow sophomore Katelyn Sydnes also walked and then scored on a Geissler groundout.
In the third inning, Barger hammered a home run over the left field wall. Williamson added a triple in the sixth that scored freshman Izzy Melton and Geissler.
In the circle, Avery Bibbs allowed just one hit over five innings. She struck out four.

The Bronchos broke a scoreless tie in the third inning with a pair of runs. Melton led off with a single and Williamson later added a double. Senior Ella Davis singled Melton home and Barger’s sacrifice fly to left field scored Williamson.
The bats kept going in the fourth inning. Sophomores Macy and Avery Bibbs had back-to-back-singles. Audry Ochoa walked to load the bases. After a fielder’s choice and an out at home, Geissler hit a sacrifice fly to score Avery Bibbs. Then Williamson doubled to left, scoring Ochoa and Melton.
Geissler earned the win. She worked out of jams in each inning but the second.
