STILLWATER — Putnam City North’s baseball season ended Wednesday (May 6) with two losses in the regional playoffs in Stillwater.

STILLWATER 12, PUTNAM CITY NORTH 2

The host Pioneers racked up 14 hits and took advantage of three Panther errors.

North picked up two runs in the third inning. The Panthers loaded the bases when senior JaQuari Dansby reached first base on a dropped third strike, fellow senior Austin Guerrero lined a single to left field and senior Xavier Sarkey walked.

Senior Gavin Lang lofted a sacrifice fly to center field to score Dansby.

Then, Junior Treague Ferguson doubled to right field to score Guerrero.

Ferguson finished with a 2-for-2 day.

Guerrero, Sarkey and Hubble each had a hit in the loss.

Of the 12 runs allowed by Panther pitching, only six runs were earned due to North errors.

ENID 7, PUTNAM CITY NORTH 4

After an early 3-0 Panther lead in the second inning, the Plainsmen scored in every inning but one after that point.

In the second inning, Sarkey singled, Lang walked and Ferguson singled. Sarkey scored on an error. Later, Panther junior Devin Orton grounded out to score courtesy runner Jeffrey Brown. Senior Owen Attebery followed with an RBI-single for a 3-0 lead.

Enid tied the game at 3-3 in the top of the third inning.

Trailing 7-3 in the seventh inning, North made some noise.

Senior Quincy Robinson led off the inning with an infield single. Jones walked and Dansby singled to center to load the bases.

Guerrero flied out to left field but Attebery wasn’t able to score.

Sarkey followed with a walk to score Attebery.

Enid sophomore Cal Gore struck out Lang and got a fly ball out to left field to end the game.

The Panthers outscored the Plainsmen, 8-7, in the loss.

Dansby was 2-for-4 and Ferguson went 2-for-3.

Sarkey, Orton, Attebery and Robinson all had a hit.
