
PAULS VALLEY — Bethany scored four runs late to beat Pauls Valley 6-3 Tuesday (March 24) to sweep the 4A-3 series.
The Panthers took a 3-2 lead in the fourth inning, keyed by a triple by sophomore Cooper Crawford.
In the fourth inning, the Bronchos retook the lead. Junior Brody McLaren walked and fellow junior Cooper Willis doubled the center field to tie the game at 3. Junior Ozzie Brown laid down a sacrifice bunt to move Willis to third base. Junior Connor Sydnes walked and freshman Jayden Rose grounded out to score Willis.
In the fifth inning, junior Damyen Aguilar and McLaren had back-to-back-doubles followed by a single by Willis for the 6-3 lead.
Bethany took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on doubles from McLaren and Sydnes. The Bronchos added a run in the fourth inning. Rose reached on an error. Suarez was hit by a pitch. Rose moved to third base and then later scored on a pair of passed balls for a 2-0 lead.
McLaren went 2-for-2 with three runs scored, a stolen base and a run batted in. Willis was 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs. Sydnes, sophomore Cooper Suarez and Aguilar each had hits.
On the mound, McLaren pitched a complete game. He allowed two hits and walked three batters. McLaren struck out nine batters.
Pauls Valley junior Zac Hayes struck out eight Bronchos over six innings. He walked four. Senior Skeeter Jolly struck out the side in the seventh inning.

Bethany (4-4) hosts 5A Santa Fe South (0-7) Thursday (March 26) at 6:30 p.m. in the Bryson Cael Memorial Festival which the Bronchos co-host with Putnam City.
The Saints dropped a two-game district series with El Reno Monday and Tuesday, 12-2 and 11-1.
