WEATHERFORD — Bethany junior Ali Linn hit 6-of-8 from the free throw line in the last two minutes of the eighth-ranked Bronchos’ 50-46 win over Weatherford Tuesday (Feb. 10) in a Western Athletic Conference matchup.

Weatherford, tied for ninth in 4A with Harrah, was tied with Bethany at 42 going into the final two minutes.

The Bronchos took advantage of being in the bonus with Linn scoring six of her 10 points. Junior Camryn Regier added two free throws in the final sequence as well. She finished with 20 points.

Leading 49-44, Bethany got a defensive stop when senior Maddison McNutt intercepted an Eagle pass in the paint. There was as a scramble for the ball but Bethany coach Eric Sailer called timeout with possession.

After the Bronchos inbounded the ball, Weatherford senior Dasia Givens took advantage of a Broncho turnover for a bucket to make it 49-46

On the other end, Linn hit the front end of two free throws to make it 50-46.

Givens heaved a 3-pointer with five seconds left but it was off the mark and Maddison McNutt’s rebound sealed the win.

“Big road win for us!!!” Sailer said via text. “I was proud of the way we shared the ball!!!”

Bethany outrebounded the Eagles, 31-23.

“That has been a focus of ours the second half of the season,” Sailer said.

Regier had a double-double with 12 rebounds. She also three assists and a steal.

Linn added two rebounds and four assists. She was 7-of-10 from the free throw line for the game.

Maddison McNutt followed with four rebounds, two assists and two steals to go with eight points. She connected on two 3-pointers.

Senior McKenna Calderon scored five points, including a trey. Calderon had two rebounds and a steal.

Sailer expects to face the Eagles again.

“That was round one, we may have to meet up again soon in the playoffs.”

Givens hit two 3-pointers in the first half. She scored 12 of her 20 points in the second half.

UP NEXT

Bethany (18-3, 6-3) hosts Clinton (2-18, 0-9) Thursday (Feb. 12) at 6:30 p.m. for a Western Athletic Conference contest rescheduled from Jan. 27, when a winter storm kept the teams off the floor.

The Lady Reds fell to Elk City last Saturday (Feb. 7), 61-35.
