IDABEL — Western Heights finished 2025 with a third-place finish at the Idabel Winter Classic Wednesday (Dec. 31) after a 48-41 win over host Idabel.

The Jets (9-4) had three players score in double-figures in the win. Senior Cruz Bluitt scored a game-high 14 points with four 3-pointers. Bluitt sank three treys in the second half when Western Heights overcame 22-20 deficit.

Junior Zion Castaneda scored seven of his 10 points in the second half. Castaneda add two 3-pointers. Senior Triston Young also scored 10 points. Young kept the Jets close in the first quarter with six points.

The Jets got past Longview (Texas) to open the tournament.

Bluitt paced Western Heights with 20 points, including three 3-pointers. Bluitt scored eight of his points in the fourth quarter. Jaden Diaz added 16 points, 14 coming in the second half.

Senior Nick Henderson added 10 points. Castaneda hit two treys in the second quarter for six points.

The Jets hung on for the win despite 33 points from Longview senior Jayden Tyeskie, who nailed three 3-pointers for the Lobos.

Captain Shreve got pulled away from the Jets in the fourth quarter.

Henderson led Western Heights with 17 points. Henderson scored eight points in the fourth quarter and hit a 3-pointer in the loss.

Bluitt added nine points and Young scored seven in the loss to the Gators.
