BETHANY — Bethany will defend its Class 4A state championship in volleyball after the Bronchos swept through Regional 2 Thursday (Oct. 9).

Bethany blanked John Marshall 3-0 (25-4, 25-2, 25-7) and Wagoner 3-0 (25-9, 25-14, 25-9) to earn the state bid.

“We are looking forward to making another run at the state tournament,” Bethany coach Kerri Cagle said via text.

The Bronchos beat rival Community Christian last season for the school’s first state title in volleyball. Bethany (33-5) is ranked third behind Victory Christian (second) and Community Christian (first).

Over the two games in the regional tournament, senior Skylar Brady tallied five aces, two blocks and 33 kills. Senior Callie Gulikers had eight aces and five digs. Senior Chloe Evans contributed five aces. Senior Maya McPhaul had 13 kills.

Junior Gracee Geissler had 4 aces, and seven digs. Junior Keyaira Ohern adde five aces and 10 kills.

Freshman Vivian Flinton contributed five aces and sophomore Hannah Bergman finished with three aces.

UP NEXT

The 4A State Tournament will be next Thursday-Saturday (Oct. 16-18) at Carl Albert High School in Midwest City.
