GUTHRIE — Western Heights stayed alive in the 5A Regional 4 Wednesday (Oct. 8) by winning 1-of-2 contests. The Jets were blanked by Guthrie, 19-0 and followed that with a 13-2 win over Santa Fe South.

Guthrie scored 16 runs over the last two innings for a 19-0 rout. The Lady Jays racked up 16 hits and took advantage of five Jet errors.
Sophomore Jalesa Asimba had Western Heights’ lone hit in the loss.
Jet hitters struck out 10 times.

The Jets scored eight runs in the third inning to break a 2-2 tie.
Asimba went 3-for-4 with a double, triple, two runs scored and four runs batted in. Aracena Martin finished 3-for-3 with a double, four stolen bases and two runs scored.
Abbie Bise, Khamiyah Laster, Raelynn Frost and Ann-Marie Bohnstedt each had a hit. Bise also stole three bases.
Asimba allowed four hits over five innings. Neither of the runs she allowed were earned. She struck out six batters.
