OKLAHOMA CITY — Western Heights fell in their first game of the All-City Athletic Conference Tournament but rebounded for a win the second game Thursday (Sept. 18) at U.S. Grant.

U..S. Grant scored three runs in the first inning and held off a third- inning comeback by the Jets.

With one out in the third inning, senior Jalesa Asimba singled. Abbie Bise bunted Asimba to second base. Aracena Martin tripled to left field which scored Asimba.

Khamiyah Laster followed with a walk. Martin stole home during the next at-bat. A strikeout ended the inning.

Asimba, Bise and Martin each had a hit in the loss.

Asimba allowed five hits and three runs. She walked two batters and struck out six.

WESTERN HEIGHTS 9, JOHN MARSHALL 0

The Jets scored three runs in each inning in the rout.

Asimba was 2-for-2 with a home run and two runs batted in. Bise also went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and two stolen bases.

Senior Raelynn Frost was 1-for-2 with a double and two stolen bases. Alaunikka Woods added a 1-for-1 game with an RBI.

Aracena Martin was 0-for-1 but reached base twice (on an error and a walk). Martin stole three bases in the win.

Bise allowed one hit in two innings. She struck out six batters.

UP NEXT

The Jets play Capitol Hill (1-15) in the fifth place game of the tournament Friday (Sept. 19) at 1 p.m. at U.S. Grant.

The Red Wolves beat Northwest Classen, 9-1, to advance on Thursday. That win was Capitol Hill’s first win of the season and broke a 20-game losing streak dating back to their last win on Sept. 17, 2024.
