WEATHERFORD — Bethany won one of its three games Friday (Aug. 15) in the I-40 Classic.

BETHANY 13, CHISHOLM 0

The Bronchos scored 10 runs in the first inning en route to a three-inning run-rule over the 3A Longhorns.

Freshman Rian Rollins, junior Emma Geissler and senior Madison Bibbs each hit a home run in the big inning. The inning also featured three doubles, two singles, an error, a dropped third strike and a player hit by a pitch.

Juniors Jules Barger and Emma Buxton each went 2-for-3 at the top of the order. Buxton’s two hits were doubles.

Geissler and senior Maddison McNutt were both 2-for-2. Geissler drove in three runs and McNutt had a double.

Bibbs, Rollins, junior Ella Davis and senior Berkley Johnson each had a hit. Johnson’s hit was a double.

Senior Paige Sechrist allowed one hit in three innings. She struck out two batters and didn’t issue a walk.

EDMOND SANTA FE 6, BETHANY 5

The 6A Wolves scored four runs in the fifth and final inning to earn a comeback win.

Bethany took an 3-0 lead in the first inning. The Bronchos took advantage of two Santa Fe errors.

The Wolves cut the lead to one run in the fourth on two Bethany errors.

In the fifth inning, a double by Davis, singles by Bibbs and Johnson along with a Santa Fe added two runs for a 5-2 lead.

In the bottom half of the inning, Rollins got two quick outs. She walked a batter and gave up a two-run double to make it 5-4. Santa Fe freshman Peyton Carter hit the first pitch over the center field wall for the win.

Buxton went 2-for-3. Bibbs, Rollins, Davis, Geissler, Johnson and junior Grey Williamson each had a hit. Davis’ hit was a double.

Rollins threw three hitless innings before the Wolves broke through with five hits in the final two innings. Of the six runs she allowed, only four were earned. Rollins walked two batters and struck out seven.

PLAINVIEW 7, BETHANY 4

A seven-run second inning sunk Bethany in the final game of the day. The Bronchos committed four errors in the loss.

Buxton went 2-for-3 and drove in three runs. Barger, Bibbs, Rollins, Davis and McNutt each had a hit.

Senior Jayda Davis took the loss in her first start. Of the seven runs she allowed, only four were earned due to the Broncho errors.

UP NEXT

Bethany is scheduled to play Tecumseh at 2 p.m. and Cache at 3:30 p.m in I-40 Classic in Weatherford Saturday (Aug. 16).
