YUKON — Piedmont scored six run over the last two innings of an 8-0 win over Putnam City North Friday (May 9), ending the Panthers’ season in Class 6A Regional 1.

The Wildcats scored single runs in the first and second innings and led 2-0 through the first five innings. Piedmont tagged North junior Gavin Lang for 11 hits. Lang walked one batter and struck out 11.

The Panthers managed only four hits in the loss. Sophomore Treague Ferguson, junior Quincy Robinson, senior Jessie Aaron and junior Austin Guerrero each had a hit. Robinson also walked.

The loss ended the a Panther season where North won the season opener and proceeded to lose 15 straight games. A doubleheader sweep of sister school and rival Putnam City West snapped the streak.

That started a stretch where North won 5-of-7. The Panthers lost their last seven games of the regular season.
