OKLAHOMA COUNTY — Deer Creek run-ruled Putnam City twice, 17-2 and 12-2, Monday (April 28) in the final 6A-2 series for the Pirates.

DEER CREEK 17, PUTNAM CITY 2

Deer Creek unleashed an eight-run inning in the first inning en route to the blowout win.

The outburst came after PC led off the game with two runs, highlighted by freshman MJ Petties’ double to center field. This scored senior Connor Fast and sophomore Jared Potter.

The Pirates only had two more hits in the loss. Sophomore Bryson Vanover and freshman Damon Hopkins each had a hit.

Deer Creek racked up 16 hits, including six extra-base hits.

A nine-run third inning broke open a 2-1 Antler lead in the rout.

The Pirates tied the game at 1-1 in the first inning on a Petties double to right field, scoring Potter (who had singled).

After the nine-run explosion, Putnam City got a run back in the bottom half of the third inning with a squeeze bunt by Hopkins which scored junior Brandon Bennett.

Bennett and Petties each went 2-for-3.

Fast, Vanover and Potter each had a hit. The Pirates struck out nine times in the loss.
