ANADARKO — Western Heights scored six runs in the fifth inning and held on to beat 2A Anadarko, 10-7, Thursday (April 17).

The Jets (12-12) trailed 4-1 entering the fifth inning. Western Heights took advantage of an error, a hit batsman, a walk and four hits. Juniors Connor Logsdon, Keziah Howell and senior Caden Wiebusch each had doubles during the six-run outburst. The Jets led 7-4.

The Warriors got a run back in the bottom half of the inning to make it 7-5. Western Heights answered in the sixth inning as senior Jacob Bohnstedt had an RBI-groundout which scored freshman J.J. Bradley, who reached on an error to lead off the inning.

In the seventh inning, senior Caden Wiebusch walked. He came around to score on a single by senior Kole Schrock to center field which got by Anadarko’s Andrew Garcia. Schrock sprinted around the bases to make it 10-5.

In the bottom half of inning, a walk, a single and a Jet error led to two runs. Junior reliever Parker Kronk got a strikeout to end the threat and the game.

The Jets smacked nine hits in the win.

Junior Keziah Howell was 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored and an run batted in. Wiebusch and senior Kipp Davis were each 2-for-3. Wiebusch doubled, scored three times and drove in a run.

Jet junior Akin Aguillard was 1-for-4 with a double.

On the mound, Aguillard pitched five innings. He gave up one hit. Of the five runs he allowed, none were earned as Western Heights committed six errors.

Aguillard walked four and struck out eight batters.

Western Heights hosts 2A Riverside Friday (April 18) at 5 p.m.

The Braves (19-3) beat 5A Lawton, 5-2, Thursday. Riverside has won 12 straight games.
