ALVA – Coming off its first loss in 11 months, Bethany was dominant in a 76-10 win over Clinton Thursday (Dec. 12) in the Alva Shootout.

“I was proud of our effort,” Bethany coach Eric Sailer said via text. “Coming off a big loss could have sent us into a huge funk, but the girls were ready to play.”

In the first half, the Lady Bronchos (1-1) seemed inspired by the word “shootout,” sinking 9-of-18 from the 3-point line. Junior McKenna Calderon hit two treys early in the game to the onslaught before sitting out with an ankle injury.

At halftime, Bethany had a 53-0 lead.

“I was impressed with our defense as we frustrated Clinton,” Sailer said.

The Lady Reds (0-5) turned the ball over 27 times and Bethany collected 19 steals. Clinton shot 13 percent from the field, making four field shots.

Senior Kayten Donley led all scorers with 16 pts, 10 rebounds, and four steals in just 19 minutes of game time.

Freshman Kamryn Donley fell just short of sister, scoring 15 points.

Sophomore Camryn Regier produced 11 points and eight boards in 18 minutes on the floor.

Senior Lauren Koonce hit 3-of-4 from the floor to add eight points.
