YUKON – Putnam City North struggled at the plate and in the field in a 7-0 loss to Enid Wednesday (Oct. 9) in the Class 6A Regional 4 playoffs.
“We didn’t help our pitchers out and we didn’t hit the ball, but the girls never quit and they played hard,” Putnam City North coach D’Antae Mitchell said via text.
North collected four hits in the loss and made four errors. After Enid built a 7-0 lead, the Lady Panthers’ biggest chance at runs came in the seventh inning when senior Angel Franklin and junior Jayda Stevenson led off the inning with back-to-back singles. Freshman Kaelyn Staden reached on an infield error. However, North couldn’t push a run across the plate.
Senior Monica Coats, sophomore Savannah Martinez, Franklin and Stevenson each had a hit in the loss.
Of the seven runs allowed by the starter Franklin and Monica Coats in relief, four were earned runs.
