BETHANY – The Lady Bronchos’ road back to the state volleyball tournament begins Thursday (Oct. 10) when Bethany hosts the regional playoffs.
The Lady Bronchos (28-4) are joined by No. 15 Verdigris, Douglass and Clinton in the regional.
Bethany is familiar with Verdigris, after the Lady Bronchos beat the Cardinals Aug. 16 and won Verdigris’ Route 66 Nut House Bash Aug. 17.

“They’re always a good, like, great program,” Bethany coach Kerri Cagle said. “Looking at Clinton, it looks like they’re pretty comparable, right now to Verdigris.
“Douglas – we have not seen them this season, but we played them, actually they came to our regional last year.”
Bethany is 29-4. All four losses came to teams that ranked atop different classes in Oklahoma.
Defending 4A state champion Community Christian (who has traded the top two spot with Bethany throughout the season) has beat Bethany twice. 5A No. 1 Mount Saint Mary scored a win over Bethany as did 3A’s top-ranked Christian Heritage.
Throughout the tough stretch in the schedule, Bethany has dealt with illness.
“We are so excited,” Cagle said. “I think we’re on the mend and everyone is getting strong and healthy again.”
Cagle pointed out that the Lady Bronchos’ Senior Night sweep of Putnam City was the first time everyone was back in action.
“We’re ready to play,” Cagle said.
