OKLAHOMA CITY – Putnam City West’s 10-0 rout of sister school Putnam City started early and ended early on Monday (April 15) in Class 6A District 1 contest.

The Patriots (7-15, 1-10) scored five runs in the first inning and went on to run-rule the Pirates (5-17, 4-7) after five innings.

West senior Jaxon Hyde-Herrera allowed only two baserunners in the shortened game. Pirate senior Avery Stewart singled in the second inning and was caught stealing during the next batter. The Pirates’ Brandon Bennett walked in the fourth.

Hyde-Herrera struck out 11 as Putnam City only put the ball in play four times in total.

The West offense took advantage of five errors from Putnam City and five walks from Pirate senior Hunter Andrews. West scored 10 runs despite only collecting three hits.

Seniors Rico Hamilton, Sam Hernandez and Kevin Saucedo accounted for the Patriots’ hit total.
