OKLAHOMA CITY – Putnam City West stormed back in the fourth quarter to beat Westmoore, 49-44, in the regular season finale for both squads in Class 6A District 2 Tuesday (Feb. 13).
West (10-12, 8-6) trailed by 10 points (39-29) after three quarters but clawed back into the game and only trailed by three points after junior Kaidon Rayfield drilled a 3-pointer with 4:21 left in the game to make it 42-39.
On the next Patriot possession, junior Antonio Green drilled a corner trey to tie the game at 42 with 3:34 left. The 3-pointer was set up by a block by Rayfield of a Gavin Loper runner on the baseline.
West finished the game with a 7-2 run as Green hit another trey and a bucket. Rayfield added two free throws to seal the win.
Rayfield finished with 14 points. He had several blocked shots in the fourth quarter run. Rayfield also hit 5-of-9 from the free throw line. Green finished with 11 points (all in the fourth quarter).
UP NEXT: Putnam City West will play Mustang in the first round of the regional playoffs. The Broncos finished fifth in the District 1 while West finished fourth in District 2. That ballgame will be Thursday at 7:30 p.m. (Feb. 22).
