NEWCASTLE – Bethany’s delayed matchup with Newcastle resulted in an 81-20 rout by the Lady Bronchos Monday (Jan. 29) in a Western Conference matchup. The game was rescheduled from Jan. 16 after Bethany was stuck in Washington, D.C.

The rout started early as Bethany (14-4) held the Lady Racers (9-10) to two points in the first quarter and eight points by halftime.

The Lady Bronchos had four players in double-figures with senior Zya Vann leading the way with 21 points. Junior Keziah Lofton added 18 points. Fellow junior Kayten Donley scored 13 points. Another junior, Talia Vann, finished with 10 points.

UP NEXT: Because of the schedule change, Bethany has a rare back-to-back situation as they return home to play Cache Tuesday (Jan. 30). It is the Lady Bronchos’ first home game since Jan. 11. Tip-off is at 6:30 p.m.

Because of the rout, Bethany coach Eric Sailer was able to rest some of his players late in the game.

Sailer said via text it was “good to be able to rest the top seven (players) in the fourth (quarter).”
