OKLAHOMA CITY – Putnam City North junior Khai Brown helped his Panthers claw back in a game with Mustang Friday (Jan. 26).
Brown scored 12 of his 25 points in the fourth quarter, but his final attempts fell short as the Broncos escaped “The Zoo” with a 61-58 win.
Brown’s long trey with :20 left pulled North (8-9) within three points. After Mustang freshman Tyson Pogi turned the ball over on the ensuing inbounds play, the Panthers had three shots at a typing 3-pointer but none went in.
Behind Brown, junior Anthony Leonard added 15 points.
For Mustang, junior Roman Miller scored Miller 21 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Pogi added 20 points, grabbed four rebounds and had four assists.
UP NEXT: The Panthers make the short trek to neighboring Deer Creek to meet the Antlers Tuesday (Jan. 30). Tip-off is at 7:15 p.m. North lost the first matchup between the two schools, 77-67, on Dec. 5.
