EL RENO — Putnam City West’s girls cross country team finished first at the El Reno Cross Country Invitational Friday (Oct. 2) at Adams Park.
The Patriots had a score of 31, outpacing Woodward with 37 points.
Junior Tori Rolling earned a third-place finish with a time of 21:43.37.
“It was really cool to see Tori run this week,” Putnam City West coach Ronnie Osborne said via text. “She has been dealing with some nagging lower body injuries, so it was great to see her resilience.”
Fellow junior Katerin Hernandez finished just behind Rolling with a time of 21:50.63.
Runners at the event had to deal with fall rain in the area and Osborne said he was proud of how they dealt with it.
“For many of them, this was their first time running and competing in the rain, and it was awesome to see them persevere and keep competing. I’m pretty sure this is a day a lot of them won’t forget just because of the rain.”
