WEATHERFORD — A solo home run in the fifth inning was the only offense in Weatherford’s 1-0 win over Bethany in a 4A-3 game Monday (Aug. 24).
Eagle junior Addie Blackwell stepped in with two outs in the fifth and sent the first pitch over the center field wall.
The Bronchos had limited opportunities to score. Sophomore Dani Williams walked with two outs in the second but was stranded.
In the fourth inning, senior Grey Williamson led off with single. A senior Ella Davis popped out, fellow senior Jules Barger notched an infield single. Weatherford junior pitcher Karsyn Hicks got a fly out and ground out to end the inning.
In the fifth inning, sophomore Avery Bibbs walked with two outs but was stranded.
In the seventh, Bethany rallied with two outs. Sophomores Macy Bibbs and Katelyn Sydnes had back-to-back singles. However, Avery Bibbs struck out to end the game.
Broncho senior Emma Geissler allowed four hits, walked one and struck out two batters in the loss.
