EL RENO — Putnam City struggled at the plate and committed six errors in a 9-1 loss to 5A El Reno Friday (April 24).

The Indians scored in every inning but one in the six-innning run-rule win.

Pirate senior Justin Knight pitched five innings. He allowed four hits. Of the seven runs he allowed, only two were earned. Knight walked four batters and struck out 10.

Original got on the board in the fifth inning with a two-out rally. Junior Jared Potter singled to left field. Senior Judd Quanstrom reached base on an infield error. Potter later scored on a two-base error.

Junior Bryson Vanover, senior Brandon Bennett and Potter each had a hit. PC batters struck out seven times in the loss.

UP NEXT

Putnam City (4-27, 0-12) opens its final 6A-3 series Monday (April 27) by traveling to Sapulpa (16-15, 6-6).

The Chieftains beat 2A-2 Tonkawa and Wichita West Friday in the Ponca City Festival.
