Edmond Santa Fe used big innings for two routs of Putnam City West Monday and Tuesday (March 23-24) in a 6A-1 matchup.

MONDAY: EDMOND SANTA FE 17, PUTNAM CITY WEST 2

EDMOND — After the Patriots took a 2-0 first inning lead, Santa Fe responded with eight runs in the bottom half of the inning. The Wolves finished off the run-rule with seven runs in the fourth inning.

Patriot pitchers issued 10 walks in the loss.

West took a 2-0 lead after a walk, hit batsmen and single loaded the bases. Junior Daniel Hoyt walked in a run and fellow junior Aaron De Loera scored on a wild pitch.

Senior Ezequiel Hernandez went 2-for-3 on the day. Freshman Tylor Mason also had a hit.

OKLAHOMA CITY — The Wolves scored 12 runs in the second inning for another blowout win over West.

Santa Fe had six hits, including two doubles and a triple, in the outburst. The Wolves also walked six times and had one batter hit by a pitch.

The Patriots avoided the shutout with two runs in the fourth inning. West loaded the bases after two walks and a single. Sophomore Malachi Ferguson scored on a wild pitch and a Mason groundout scored freshman Riley Axtell.

Sophomore Cadence Smith went 2-for-2. Ferguson and De Loera each had a hit.

Putnam City West (4-5) travels to rival and sister school Putnam City North Friday (March 27) at 5 p.m.

The Panthers (1-9) lost a district series to Deer Creek Monday and Tuesday. North plays Southmoore Thursday before facing West.
