BETHANY — Bethany designated hitter Connor Sydnes had three hits and four runs batted in for the Bronchos in a 12-7 win over Pauls Valley in 4A-3 action.

The junior was 3-for-4 with a run scored. Besides his three singles, Sydnes was hit by a pitch and stole a base.

Bethany scored six runs in the second and batted around in the order. Syndes led off the inning with a single, moved to third base on a sacrifice bunt from freshman Jayden Rose. Sophomore Cooper Suarez doubled to right field to score Sydnes. After four straight walks, junior Cooper Willis had a sacrifice fly to make it 4-0. There was another walk and Sydnes singled home two runs in his second at-bat of the inning.

The Panthers answered with four runs in the third inning to make it 6-4.

Bethany mounted a two-out rally in the fifth inning with three singles, three walks and a Willis double.

Willis, junior Ozzie Brown, Rose and Suarez each had a hit. Willis had two RBIs.

Junior Brody McLaren scored twice and drove in a run. He walked twice. In all, Bethany hitters walked 11 times.

On the mound, Willis threw six innings. He allowed four hits and four runs. Willis walked two batters and struck out seven.

Pauls Valley tagged senior Karter Thomas with three runs in 2/3 of an inning in the seventh. Freshman Kory Draper Whitener came in to get the final out.

Bethany (3-4, 3-0) travels to Pauls Valley Tuesday (March 24) to complete the district series. First pitch is at 5 p.m.
